Brian McPartland has spent most of his life living in California.  After living and working on California's beautiful North Coast (Eureka), as well as in the Sierra Foothills (Grass Valley, Brian retired from Optometry in 2000, and now resides in Merlin, Oregon with his wife Joyce.  Brian is primarily self-taught as an artist, and enjoys working in watercolors and oils.  He has been drawn to botanical, still life, and figurative subject matter.

Brian has shown his work in many San Diego County venues, including the Escondido Municipal Art Gallery, the COAL Gallery, Off Track Gallery (San Dieguito Art Guild), Black Swan Gallery, Front Porch Gallery, BAE Systems of Rancho Bernardo, the San Diego County Fair, as well as at unique venues such as the offices of Charles Schwab in Carlsbad and the city of San Marcos City Hall.  Brian belongs, or has belonged to several art associations, including the San Diego Museum of Art Artist's Guild in Balboa Park, the Carlsbad-Oceanside Art League, the San Dieguito Art Guild, and the Escondido Arts Partnership.  Additionally, Brian has been juried into the La Jolla Art Association, though he declined to join.  His paintings are in private collections throughout the nation.
